The Spectrum 1100 Series Cone 4-6 High Fire Stoneware Glazes are packaged in gallons and big mouth pints. Most 1100 Series Glazes are nontoxic in the liquid form and nearly every glaze in the line is food-safe when properly fired in oxidation.  The 1100 Series is perfect for use with Stoneware and Porcelain clays as well as high fire terra cotta clays.  The majority of the Spectrum 1100 Series Glazes are considered Reactive Glazes, which means the glazes will move and flow during firing.

    Many Spectrum 1100 Series Glazes are classified as Reactive Glazes. Reactive Glazes, often referred to as "Art Glazes" and generally have the word "texture" in the name, are formulated to react during the firing to produce very interesting and beautiful effects. Reactive glazes react to clay composition, whether fired on a vertical or horizontal surface, firing temperature and hold time, contact with other glazes, as well as application thickness.  In general, reactive glazes will readily flow (move) during firing, especially so at higher temperatures.  These glazes are considered dinnerware safe as long as there is a continuous vitrified surface when properly fired in oxidation.     As Reactive Glazes tend to run in the firing, care should be taken with glaze being applied to a vertical surface.  To keep the glaze from flowing off the ware, it is suggested that fewer coats of glaze should be applied on the lower surfaces of the vertical sides, or even leave a generous area unglazed.
